TANYA DETRIK
Life can change in the blink of an eye. So can you.
Sometimes change is thrust upon us. It’s happened to me several times.
All of them have re-defined my life. Perhaps it’s happened to you?
When I was only ten years old, my mother died unexpectedly. It was traumatic, and life changed. Back then, I was too young to have any real choices.
Years later, in 2008, Nora, my daughter's daughter was born with unexpected life-altering health challenges. We were all traumatized. I spent many hours and nights in her hospital room. This is when I realized how small shifts in perspective helped me cope and be more present. The experience changed me, and from that came my first book,
All proceeds from that book go to helping special kids.
After being invited to speak at a fundraiser from a grandparent’s perspective about our story with Nora, my speaking opportunities grew into sharing the story and our point of view with local and international medical communities. I am proud to have won a national press club award for that speech content. I went on from there to create and deliver my signature presentation about my “Perspective Prescription," an instant remedy for stress relief.
Writing has always been instrumental in my examination of life. I share some of those perspectives in my blog,
which garnered me a Connecticut Press Club award.
Again, on December 31, 2018, life changed in the blink of an eye when the love of my life died unexpectedly in front of me. Another life-defining trauma. I wrote and wrote to emote, explore and examine my grief. The gift turned out to be my second book, This is Grief - when breathing hurts, love songs suck, and good days come with guilt.
While you are here, I invite you to discover more about my books and blog. Also, I’d be honored to speak, virtually or in person, at your meeting or conference and share the power perspective plays in our well-being.
Thanks for visiting my website.
I'd love to hear from you.
